At this Glenbrook home, a lilypilly hedge had repeatedly invaded a section of old terracotta soil (toilet water) pipe and PVC expanding joint with its roots. This meant expensive regular electric eel visits from the plumber.
I dug out the old clay sections and replaced them with new PVC pipe along its length. No more blocked drains or costly six-monthly plumbing charges for the eel!
